Treasures

"I lift up my eyes to the hills — where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip — he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD watches over you — the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm — he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore." Psalm 121

"For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect." 1 Peter 1:18-19

Project Read

Just finished reading The Woman In White by Wilkie Collins. Gosh, this book was so good; I'm now a huge fan of Collins.

My favorite character in this book was Marian Halcombe; she was a very strong-minded, intelligent woman ... so much so that at a few points during the story, her mind was considered 'manly'. I found that intriguing, but I suppose during that day, very little was expected of a woman. Quite the opposite is true of our culture today. Also, Count Fosco was such a fascinating character and served very well as the villian of the story.

Also, I recently completed Night by Elie Wiesel. I've read this one so many years ago and wanted to read it again. It is such a heart-wrenching story of his days in the concentration camps during WWII.
